The Ear and Mouth of God

During my reading today I read how Jesus and David were ones who didn't act immediately to confrontation and battle or even their daily routines. They went to a quiet place and prayed, asking God for His guidance.  Now by today's standards that would be weak and cowardice and a waste of time. For we know how "busy" the world is today. But, is it weak? We who are saved and filled with God's spirit have His ear...He hears us but do we believe He listening or has the ability and desire to help us in our time of need? I know I've often thought that...why would a big God like that want to waste His time on a little person like me? He so wants to hear our thoughts, our prayers, our needs. He loves us so much!! He has the ability to hear them and act upon them. But you must believe that He HAS the ability and the desire to meet our needs and help us when we desperately need Him to. I look back through out my life and see many times when if I had just prayed asking direction things would've gone much smoother. I am an ACT NOW kind of person. It's very difficult for me to just sit still let alone pray for guidance. [those of you who know me can snicker now.] I am going to try to be more prayerful in all that I do. It won't be easy for me. [no way will it be easy] But I know with God's help I can do it. Let me write you a couple of things Priscilla Shirer wrote down in the Bible study "Anointed, Redeemed, Transformed". "Why wouldn't we take advantage of having the ear of God turned in our direction? If we truly believed the great God of the universe listens intently to the cry of our hearts and responds with power in our circumstances, we would never meet any circumstance without deciding to access the ear of God."
Now don't get me wrong...I pray, I pray with faith! All those who have asked me to pray for a request on their behalf, please know I pray with faith knowing God will answer, and answer His will, in His timing. But it's in my daily living or when I'm under attack and need to "act now" that I have problems going to my prayer closet and setting that in God's hand and waiting to hear what His next move for me would be. That's where my issues lie. I hope this speaks to you as it did me. I also hope my transparency was an encouragement to those of you who go through the same thing, you're not alone. Many of us have difficulty in this area of our lives. We need to learn to go to Him totally anticipating that we have not only His ear but His mouth...He will give us His instructions. "Jesus prayerfully waited for His Father's instructions. Jesus had not divinely drawn blueprint or schedule. He discerned the Father's will day by day in a life of prayer and was able to resist the urgent demands of others and dow what was really important for His mission." ~Priscilla Shirer~
Here are some scriptures that may give us a boldness to ask on behalf of ourselves but also know that God hears us and WILL answer us in the exact time we need His answer.

"I'll give you words and wisdom that will reduce all accusers to stammers and stutters" ~Luke 21:15~

"If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get His help, and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who 'worry their prayers' are like windwhipped waves. don't think you're going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open" ~James 1:5-8~

"We do speak wisdom among those who are mature: a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory...For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God." ~1 Corinthians 2:6-7, 10-11~

"God speaks, and you can hear His voice. This is one of the privileges of receiving the Spirit of God!" ~Priscilla Shirer~
